Tricky Is Mixing It Up With ‘Mixed Race”

Once former member of the Wild Bunch aka Massive Attack many moons ago, Tricky has been known to push his creative limits on each album he puts out. In doing so, each record was a hit or a miss, but you have to respect any artist who take chances with their music. In 2008, Tricky put out the amazing Knowle West Boy. It was his first release on Domino Records. Fast Forward to now, Tricky Kid is back with his 9th studio release on Domino entitled ‘Mixed Race’, which is set to be released on October 5th.

“The album’s called Mixed Race because being mixed race is the single biggest influence on my music. You sat down at the table in my house and you saw every colour. It’s made me much more open-minded than I could’ve been. I come from both worlds.”

‘Mixed Race’ features a plethora of collaborators including Irish-Italian Franky Riley who has been touring with Tricky for the past two years; Terry Lynn, Bobby Gillespie, Hakim Hamadouche, Blackman and his brother Marlon Thaws who’s the thirteenth of fourteen siblings.

Tricky recently dropped the first single “Murder Weapon” from the album which is a re-working of a dancehall tune by Echo Minott. You can check out the video below.
