Nike has been producing some amazing commercials, unfortunately most of them are for overseas markets. At least we got the internet. I came across this video for Nike’s Free Run shoe. It features the Japanese break-beat group HIFANA. Instead of typical gear to make their music, they rigged the sneakers to produced the music in the video.
One of the inspirations for the monthly Unlooped event is the Red Bull Music Academy(RBMA). For those not familiar with the RBMA, it is a two week workshop held once a year in a different city in the world. 60 djs, producers, singers, musicians from the four corners of the globe are selected from an application process to particpate in the academy. They come together to learn, network, play, and most importantly to collaborate and create some amazing music. The collaboration is the part that motivated to create Unlooped monthly events. Red Bull also puts out compilation of tracks that were recorded at each two-week sessions.
Last night, I couldn’t getting any sleep. So I decided to on the web and search out some new music. For some reason, I was coming across a lot of Canadian artists. Then I stumbled on this trio out of Toronto by the name of Keys n’ Krates. I think I have seen there names before, but never check them out until last night around midnight. I tell you this, I’m very upset that I waited this long to listen to their music. Keys n’ Krates are what you call a band that does “live remixing.” The concept sounds really risky, but these cats pull it off! Remember when Diddy said he invented or re-invented the remix or something like that? (If you called adding more guest rappers on the same beat a remix, then all the oil in the Gulf is good for your skin). Well these guys really did RE-INVENT the remix. Follow @keysnkrates on Twitter.
